Farewell Flight

Last Monday, I set out on a voyage to the Caledonia Lounge in downtown Athens hoping to hear some gentle and possibly obscure indie music, but I should have expected so much more. Farewell Flight's show was simply beautiful. Between the groovy bass lines, ambient guitar parts and modest but powerful drum beats, the music is moving enough to melt the iciest of hearts. Then add Luke Foley's pained yet uplifting vocals into the mix, and something truly special is created. It's always great to watch an indie band who has been in the scene forever and done countless tours only making enough money to barely survive. These are the musicians who truly treat their music as an art and have a burning passion for everything they write. Farewell Flight truly captivated the small audience at the Caledonia. To anyone who can appreciate an emotionally charged, melodic sound, I suggest buying their album "Sound. Color. Motion." I picked up a copy myself and could rave on and on about the quality of this album, but you should see for yourself.
